Alcatel wins RCOM contract

Alcatel-Lucent haswon an over $400 million contract from Reliance Communications to supply IP-based CDMA and GSM network equipment.

KOLKATA: The Paris-based Alcatel-Lucent haswon an over $400-million contract from Anil Ambani’s Reliance Communications to supply IP-based CDMA and GSM network equipment.

Alcatel-Lucent will provide mobile network gear for RCOM’s wireless network expansion, which will cover to over 20,000 towns and 6 lakh villages.

Under the terms of the contract, Alcatel-Lucent will also upgrade RCOM’S existing CDMA and GSM networks with additional mobile switching centres and base stations.
