Alcatel appoints Vivek Mohan as president for India ops
In a major organisational restructuring, French telecom company Alcatel-Lucent on Thursday appointed Vivek Mohan as president for its operations in India.
Ravi Sharma, who is currently heading the South Asia business including India, has been elevated as advisor to Frederic Rose, President of Europe, Africa and Asia (EAA) business, the company said in a statement here.
Mohan has been a part of Lucent Technologies since 2001 and after the merger he has been heading services business for Alcatel-Lucent in South Asia.
"Alcatel-Lucent is committed to help its Indian customers grow their business and offer innovative services. We have a talented team of recognised professionals in India to support them," Mohan said.
In his new role, Sharma would support the business in South and South East Asia, and India in developing and implementing a sound and profitable strategy to accompany Asian operators in these markets.
Alcatel-Lucent will continue to leverage its position in fixed and mobile phone segment, and applications and professional services, while entering industry and public sector markets outside the company's traditional customer base, particularly energy, transport, defence and security, the statement said.
