NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel on Friday announced that its customers would be able to avail of 'seamless roaming services' on 3G networks across the world, including Japan and South Korea.
This initiative would benefit about 26 million Airtel mobile customers while roaming to any of the 3G networks worldwide, a company release said here.
Earlier, the customers while visiting Japan and Korea had to change their handsets but now the 3G networks in these countries allows GSM subscribers to connect to their networks on roaming.
Any Airtel customer on 3G compatible handsets would be now be able to experience seamless connectivity on voice or data, while on roaming on WCDMA network including Japan and Korea, it said.
The company offers roaming facilities on more than 365 mobile networks across 154 countries.
Korea and Japan have 3G networks based on WCDMA technology, which allows GSM subscribers to connect to their networks on roaming.
