Airtel offers unlimited voice calling packs for broadband customers

Subscribers will have to pay Rs 49 per month for the local calls pack and Rs 99 per month for unlimited STD and local calls to any network anywhere in the country.

NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel’s broadband subscribers can now buy voice calling packs to make unlimited calls from their landlines as the Sunil Mittal-driven telecom operator has come up with an offer to boost the minutes that users spend on the landline network.

Subscribers will have to pay Rs 49 per month for the local calls pack and Rs 99 per month for unlimited STD and local calls to any network anywhere in the country, the company said in a statement on Monday.

Airtel has restricted the offer to the consumer segment. It had 14.89 lakh broadband consumers at the end of December 2014, according to data available with Trai. Telecom analyst Deepak Kumar said that the initiative is aimed at increasing minutes of usage.

"The value packs will eventually enhance Airtel’s key performance indicators by increasing minutes of usage among consumers," Kumar said, adding that it will encourage voice calls over landline.
