Aircel network crosses 800 towns

Aircel, leading mobile service provider in Tamil Nadu, on Monday launched its services in Amaravathi and aims to extend the coverage to 1,200 towns during this year.

COIMBATORE: Aircel, leading mobile service provider in Tamil Nadu, on Monday launched its services in Amaravathi and aims to extend the coverage to 1,200 towns during this year.
With the launch of services in Amaravathi, Aircel network crossed 800 towns and 11,000 villages across the state.
"The launch of cellular services in Amaravathi was in line with the company's objective of extending its reach to a wider cross section of the public," Aircel CEO-South K V P Baskar said in a release.
Part of Malaysia-based Maxis Communications Berhad, Aircel has GSM subscriber base of over 4.3 million in the telecom circles of Tamil Nadu and North East, he said.
Aircel had rolled its service in Assam, North East, Jammu and Kashmir, Orissa, West Bengal, Bihar and Himachal Pradesh recently and the company has presence in nine telecom circles in the Country, Baskar added.
