ADAG distances from CBI's action against RIL officials
Anil Ambani group on Monday distanced itself from CBI's action accusing top officials of Reliance Infocomm for illegal call routing.

NEW DELHI: Anil Ambani group on Monday distanced itself from CBI's action accusing top officials of Reliance Infocomm for illegal call routing (before the split between Ambani brothers) saying, "Reported CBI criminal case relates to a period prior to reorganisation when Mukesh Ambani was Chairman."
The ADAG said in a statement that officials accused by CBI belong to Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) controlled by elder Ambani sibling Mukesh.
CBI has registered a case against four senior officials of Reliance Infocomm and some unknown officials of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited for "masking" international calls as local ones through specially designed software.
The CBI named Manoj Modi, the then Director of Reliance Infocomm, Akhil Gupta, the then CEO, A Shankar, the then Head of the company's Corporate Affairs, Pankaj Panwar, the then Head Regulator of the company and other unnamed officials of Reliance and BSNL in its case, the CBI had said.
"Manoj Modi heads RIL's retail business and Shankar Adwal looks after RIL's government relations in Delhi," ADAG spokesperson said.
Responding to media queries on reports of the CBI registering a case against four senior officials of Reliance Infocomm, a Reliance Communications spokesperson stated: "The reported criminal case registered by the CBI pertains to the alleged rerouting of international calls prior to the reorganisation of the Reliance group, at which point of time Reliance Infocomm was under the previous management.
The officials accused by the CBI are from the Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) group, and have nothing to do with the Reliance ADA group.
