TATA Teleservices said on Thursday that its incremental capital expenditure for extending the second-generation (2G) footprint and rolling out the third-generation (3G) services will be less than Rs 1,000 crore this year.

MUMBAI: TATA Teleservices said on Thursday that its incremental capital expenditure for extending the second-generation ( 2G) footprint and rolling out the third-generation ( 3G) services will be less than Rs 1,000 crore this year.

“The incremental capex in 2G and 3G services would be less than Rs 1,000 crore,” Tata Teleservices MD Anil Sardana told reporters here. The 3G spectrum auction ended last month, with the government reaping a rich harvest of nearly Rs 70,000 crore.

When asked whether there is any plan to merge Tata Teleservices and Tata Teleservices Maharashtra, Mr Sardana did not give a direct response and said, “I am holding both the organisations’ responsibilities and both are separate organisations.” Mr Sardana is currently managing director of both the companies.
