2G case: Supreme Court to take call on Sunil Mittal plea on April 15
The Supreme Court will take a call on april 15 whether Bharti Airtel md sunil mittal can be summoned as an accused in the 2G case by the special court trying the case.
A bench, led by the CJI, also directed the special court to put off hearing of the case scheduled for April 11 to Tuesday, April 16.
The top court also asked the cbi to produce the chargesheet, filed against the accused in the case, so that it could decide for itself whether the special court had decided rightly to summon him.
Mittal was not originally listed as an accused in the chargesheet. But the magistrate decided to summon him as an accused based on the prima facie evidence against him.
He took into account the chargesheet, statements of investigating officers etc to take a call. Mittal challenged this in the top court. His case was argued by Senior Counsel Harish Salve.
