2G case: Supreme Court bench to hear Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Balwa's plea on Thursday

NEW DELHI: A three-member Supreme Court bench will hear on Thursday Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Balwa's plea against the stay on his discharge proceedings pending in the Delhi High Court as directed by the bench constituted by the apex court to hear the 2G case.

Chief Justice Altmas Kabir announced this on Tuesday, when the bench listed the writ petition for hearing on Thursday after senior counsels Ram Jethmalani and Rajeev Dhavan sought urgent listing. Balwa had moved the high court on January 30, challenging the charge sheet against him and the charges framed against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the IPC. Among others, he sought quashing of the charges of bribing a public official and criminal conspiracy to defraud the exchequer. The high court issued notices on his plea on Feb 22.
