2G case: Kanimozhi, Bollywood entrepreneur Morani to appear in court

NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi and Bollywood entrepreneur Karim Morani may appear tomorrow before a Delhi court in connection with 2G scam after they were accused of routing and accepting Rs 200 crores bribe for DMK-run Kalaignar TV.

Kanimozhi(43), a DMK MP, MD of Kalaignar TV Sharad Kumar and Morani, Director of Cineyug Media and Entertainment Pvt Ltd, were summoned by the special court which had on April 25 taken cognizance of CBI's second chargesheet, discussing their roles in the massive scam.

The chargesheet filed by the agency deals in detail with the routing of over Rs 200 crores illegal gratification from M/S Dynamix Realty to Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd through M/S Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd and Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd.

The money was routed from Swan Telecom to Kalaignar TV as bribe to get favour in grant of scare radio waves.

Besides Kanimozhi and two others, CBI has also accused Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa's cousin Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal, Directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd, in the chargesheet. They are in jail.

Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal, Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar have 60, 20 and 20 per cent shares respectively in Kalaignar TV.
