SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig today said that trans-LoC trade would give a boost to the handicrafts and other tourism related sectors in the state.

Inaugurating a ten-day shopping festival here, Baig said "I am confident that with installation of popular government in Pakistan measures would also be taken for carrying the trans-LoC trade forward".

"The time is not far away, when with opening of more routes the tourists from other side would also come. I hope that the influx would show a geometrical progression," he said.

Advocating the opening of the historical Silk Route, Baig said that by doing so the valley would get connected to central Asia, China and other countries which would give fillip to trade and cultural ties with them.
