Most tour operators say that they are passing on the benefit of discounted land prices that cover hotels, meals and sight-seeing packages to holiday goers in July-August.
Hotels and tour operators traditionally offer discounted prices to consumers to maintain occupancy levels. Says Cox and Kings business development head Karan Anand: Typically, couples with no kids and young executives travel during the monsoon season.

So, through discounted packages, we are targeting people who do not want to travel during the family rush time as well as prefer going to coastal regions, including Kerala and Goa. Mr Anand added that the company expects to increase business by 10-15% this monsoon season as compared to last year.
A holiday package of about 16 days/15 nights covering Far-East countries like China, Tibet and Japan can cost a couple about Rs 1.7 lakh, almost Rs 50,000 cheaper than summer season. Similarly, a 9-day trip for a couple to Europe would cost about Rs 2 lakh, saving you about Rs 50,000.
Says SOTC COO Sunil Gupta said: Though prices differ from destination to destination, but, on an average, if one combines the LAND (hotels, meals and sight-seeing packages) prices, it would cost 20-30% cheaper.
We pass it on to the consumers despite the ATF surcharge going up. Agrees another tour operator Le Passage To India MD Arjun Sharma. This is the best time for price-conscious holidaymakers to opt for holidays, he said.
