Slew of incentives for tourism development: Puducherry Tourism Minister
Puducherry Tourism Minister P Rajavelu said the govt has announced a slew of incentives for travel and tourism industry to promote tourist activities.
At the national seminar on Monsoon Torusm in India at New Delhi he said with tourism being accorded the status of an industry in Puducherry since 1992 the administration has been granting incentives for travel and tourism industry.
The incentives related to concessional power tariff, interest subsidy on loans, capital subsidy of Rs 1 crore (for construction of hotels), exemption from luxury tax for hotels and exemption from entry fee for the tourist vehicles. These measures 'have intensively helped tourism stake olders for increasing tourist flow into Puducherry', he said.
He said that Puducherry tourism department had always been keen in promoting special packages. The government would welcome all initiatives for exploring monsoon tourism.
The seminar on monsoon tourism was organised by Confederation of Indian Industry`s national committee on tourism.
