AHMEDABAD: How about going the pilgrimage circuit at just 48 paise per km, in a railway���s reserved second class sleeper coach that would be parked peacefully while you take your own time for the Lord���s darshan. The latest initiative by Indian railway will enable you to plan your pilgrimage with the cheapest form of transport without hassles of booking tickets two months in advance .
Gone are the days when a chartered coach seeker had to approach the higher officials of railways at the respective zonal headquarters at least two/ three months along with necessary deposits in advance. Now one can just walk into the regional office of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) and can avail hassle-free booking of a chartered coach of one���s choice.
Recently a group of persons intending to visit Madurai , Rameshwaram and Kanyakumari from Ahmedabad via Chennai and Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) section-Madgaon got an IRCTC tariff quotation amounting to Rs 1,91,410 covering all above mentioned centres. One can cover a distance of 6,000 km within only less than Rs 2,900 per person in a coach of 72 persons.
