Mott MacDonald draws up tourism master plan for DVC
Consultant Mott MacDonald is preparing a master plan for a Rs 400 crore tourism project of the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to offer adventure sports.
"We are preparing the master plan for DVC and will submit the project report in the next six months," Mott MacDonald regional head (business development) Pradeep Mitra said on Thursday.
DVC had entered into a joint venture with the Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) to develop its reservoir sites - Maithon, Tilaiya, Panchet and Konar as tourist spots.
The joint venture project between DVC and IL&FS would be implemented via the public-private partnership route.
IL&FS vice-president Sudip Datta said that the scope of the technical master plan study by Mott MacDonald included identification of locations and their feasibility.
"We expect to float tenders for a private partner by early May for the first two sites, Maithon and Tilaya, and the tendering would be in two stages, technical and financial qualification," he said.
The project would be implemented in two phases and in each phase investment would be Rs 200 crore each.
The project, slated to begin in September would offer adventure sports including rock-climbing, amusement parks and lodging. There would be theme islands with houseboats also.
