Mercury Travels to undertake expansion

Former Thomas Cook CEO Ashwini Kakkar, who is now heading Mercury Travels, a JV between EIH (Oberoi Hotels), has an-nounced plans to expand business across the travel chain.

MUMBAI: Former Thomas Cook CEO Ashwini Kakkar, who is now heading Mercury Travels, a JV between EIH (Oberoi Hotels), has an-nounced plans to expand business across the travel chain.

The com-pany's new focus areas will be business and leisure travel, inbound handling, foreign exchange, travel insurance, passports, visas, car rental and cargo.

Mercury has announced the appointment of four new senior managers. Former Thomas Cook head of forex business, Aashutosh Akshikar, has been appointed CEO.
