Mahindra Holidays to promote home stays in Kerala
Kerala has tied up with Mahindra Holidays and Resorts to promote home stays in the state, which faces an acute room shortage during peak tourist season, an official said.
During the peak season, Kerala requires around 20,000 rooms, but only 9,000 rooms are available. Last fiscal, over 550,000 foreign tourists and nearly seven million domestic tourists visited Kerala. "Kerala Tourism has decided to join hands with Mahindra because it will offer tourists an experience of traditional Kerala hospitality, which is something unique and exciting," Venu said. Venu said Mahindra is a good vehicle to promote home stays as it has considerable expertise and experience in operating holiday resorts and providing holiday packages to its members and international tourists. Kerala Tourism will also allow Mahindra to use its logos, trademarks and taglines for marketing the home stays.
