'Kanyakumari to be declared Tourism District'
Kanyakumari District, located in the southernmost tip of the country, would be declared as a "Tourism District" within the next one year, state Tourism Minister Suresh Rajan said on Thursday.
Laying the foundation stone for the Rs 20 lakh tourism developmental works here, he said all facilities, including drinking water and car parking, would be made at various places in the coastal district.
The work on construction of cottages with sun set view point, taken up in Muttom near here with the assistance of ITDC at a cost of Rs one crore, would be completed within the next one year, he said.
Kanyakumari is famous for its beautiful view of sun rise and sun set and many other tourist attractions such as the Veivekananda Memorial Rock in the sea.
