J&K Government mulling to develop Jammu as heritage city

JAMMU: Emphasising that Jammu would be developed as " heritage city", the state administration today informed that a sum of Rs three crore has been made available to the agencies concerned for the beautification of the Raghunath Bazar so far.

"Jammu would be developed as Heritage city. Several projects are underway with regards to its beautification," Minister for Roads and Buildings and Mechanical Engineering, Abdul Majid Wani said while interacting with the representatives of Raghunath Bazar Business Association here.

The minister, while reviewing the beautification of the Bazar, informed that the project envisages to give the market a new look and showcase it as a local heritage, as it was the hub of the business activity.

The officials, meanwhile, informed Wani that out of Rs 6.67 crore project cost, an amount of Rs three crore has been made available to executing agencies so far.

Director Tourism, Jammu, Soujanaya Sharma and Chief Engineer R&B, Jammu, Mustafa Tahseen, were among other officers who accompanied the minister.
