The promotional campaign, launched by the Indian Ambassador to Japan yesterday, was undertaken on the eve of Japan Association of Travel Agents Travel Fair 2008.

The exquisitely designed India Tourism booth of Union Tourism Ministry is expected to attract visitors to the three-day fair beginning today.

Ten Velo taxis wrapped in images of India's tourism products were flagged off amid fanfare at Ginza, the prime area of Tokyo.

Velo taxis were specially chosen for the campaign as they are ecologically friendly mode of transportation which are very popular in tourist areas of Japan. They are also reminiscent of the ubiquitous rickshaw, India's commonest mode of public transport.
