Evolution of Travellers

89%: Consider it important to learn about the local culture and history of the international beach vacation destination.

67%: Book beach vacations on a computer while 27% use smartphones or tablets.

62%: Depend on traveller reviews, 47% on travel blogs and 63% on personal recommendations for choosing a beach destination.

61%: Use international beach vacations as a chance to practice or improve foreign language skills.

47%: Would like to use Wi-Fi, if available, during their vacation to plan local activities.

42%: Consult social media while choosing the destination.




The Indulgences

48%: Eat more food than they would normally.

48%: Preferred to sun-bathe shaded under an umbrella while 40% prefer to mix it with full-time basking in the sun & an umbrella.

20%: Have gone topless at the beach with 26% of males having gone topless and 3% of women, 4% said they have gone nude while 11% said that they have done both.

23% of Delhiites have gone topless, 6% said they have gone nude and 21% said they have done both.

18%: Used the vacation for intimacy with strangers.

The Big Worry

32%: For Indians on a beach vacation having their wallet/possessions stolen is their biggest fear.

 


Capturing Memories

65%: Said they would upload holiday pictures on their social networks if Wi-Fi was available.

57%: Share their photos on social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

46%: Are okay with posting their photos in swimwear on social networks only if they have posed & reviewed the photograph while 12% are easy going and don’t care if their swimwear photo was posted.

42%: Still make a hard copy of their photo album or a scrapbook.

Survey Methodology: The survey was conducted online from April 19 to May 15 across Asia Pacific, Europe, North America and South America by Harris Interactive among 8,606 respondents in 21 countries. In India, 485 respondents participated & only their responses have been highlighted here.
