Indian tourists are top spenders

Indians now rank among the top spenders in Singapore, Malaysia and Australia.

MUMBAI: India���s largest travel services company, the Kuoni Travel Group, has come out with a report taking a detailed look at outbound, inbound and domestic tourism markets in the immediate perspective as well as forecasting trends for the next decade or so. It looks at industry trends from various sources and maps them with a look at demographic trends in India.

These findings are then cross-referenced and validated with primary data on travel and leisure in India. About 3,000 individuals were administered a structured questionnaire by IMRB. Commenting on the report, Kuoni Travel Group division head SBD Style Reto Wilhelm, said the report is a great opportunity for a long-term engagement within the sector.

Among the findings are trends on increased spend of the Indian tourist travelling abroad. Indians now rank among the top spenders in Singapore, Malaysia and Australia.

According to Kuoni Travel Group CEO and MD India and south Asia, Zubin Karkaria, the report captures trends on the split between various travel segments like leisure, business and visiting friends and relatives (VFR). The Kuoni Travel Group, is the country���s largest travel and tourism company and a 100% subsidiary of Kuoni Travel Holding Switzerland.
