Continuing the growth trend, 'Incredible India' campaign attracted 6.77 lakh foreign tourists in February.
The foreign exchange earnings from tourism also increased to Rs 8,502 crore in February as compared to Rs 7,653 crore in February 2011, a growth of 11.1 per cent.
The World Travel and Tourism Council has ranked India as a tourism hot-spot with a very high growth possibility in the coming years.
The Tourism Ministry has set a target of attracting 11 million foreign tourists by 2016.
We have undertaken a series of roadshows abroad and as per our plan we will be showcasing our destinations in more countries in coming years to reach the target, a senior Tourism Ministry official said.
