Government proposes tourism activities on 420 acres beneath dam

Karnataka government has proposed to develop 420 acres of vacant land beneath the Hemavathy dam to promote tourism-related activities on BOT basis.

BANGALORE: Karnataka government has proposed to develop 420 acres of vacant land beneath the Hemavathy dam to promote tourism-related activities on built, operate and transfer basis.

In this connection, feasibility report and a model concession agreement has been prepared by state-run Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd, Water Resources Minister M B Patil said in a written reply to a question in the Legislative Assembly.

Economic viability of such an initiative is being explored, he said.
