"Through this trend report, we map the interesting booking propensities of our users. As a last-minute hotel booking channel, our value proposition is unique and users turn to our app to address a very specific need," Suresh John, CEO and founder of RoomsTonite said in a press statement.
Interestingly, comfort hotels emerged as the most preferred category of travellers whose plans got firmed up at the last minute. Further studying the booking preferences over mobile platforms, the survey revealed that booking value of iOS users surpassed those of Android loyalists by 1.3 times while the time spent on the app by Android users was almost 3.5 minutes more.
Founded in 2014, Bengaluru-based RoomsTonite has tied up with brands such as Hyatt, Radisson, The Lalit, Park, Fortune, Sarovar, Ginger, Keys and budget aggregators such as OYO Rooms, Zo Rooms and Treebo Hotels. The startup offers hotel rooms at 20-50% discount in a three-day booking window. The rates are based on factors such as the percentage of occupied rooms in a hotel, the time of the day, the number of rooms and the length of stay.
