Three hundred tourist spots have been identified in Orissa for developing them as attractive destinations for domestic and international tourists.

BALASORE: Three hundred tourist spots have been identified in Orissa for developing them as attractive destinations for domestic and international tourists.

Inaugurating the 9th Golden Beach festival at Chandipur- on-sea near here last night, state Tourism minister Debi Prasad Mishra said the government has decided to link beach and eco-tourism in Orissa, which is endowed with 480 km coastline, vast natural and wildlife potential and ancient heritage.

Rs 12 crore was alloted to Balasore district alone for promotion of tourism, while steps were being taken for integrated development of Chandipur-Tala-Chandipur-Remuna- Panchalingeswar Nilgiri circuit under circuit development scheme at a cost of Rs 928 lakh, he said.

Work on this project was expected to be completed by 2009, he said.

However, infrastructure like road and electricity were essential for promoting tourism and many private enterpreneurs have shown interest to invest in these areas, he said.
