BANGALORE: Tanishq, the largest jewellery retailer in the country, reached the century mark, with the unveiling of its 100th store in Patna.
The Bangalore-headquartered Tanishq Jewellery, ventured into jewellery retailing in 1996 through exclusive stores, both company owned and franchisee outlets.
A Tata Group company Tanishq has presence in 70 cities across the country and has registered a turnover of Rs 1,250 crore last fiscal.
Commenting on its milestone, Tanishq COO C K Venkatraman said, "We have been able to capitalise on the trends of the local jewellery markets by building on our solid financial strength, a management model of excellence and most importantly a philosophy of customer care".
"In India although there are several small-scale unorganised jewellery markets, Tanishq is the first and only jewellery brand to have organised mass jewellery retail chains across the country," said firm's V Vice-President Govindraj.

The success of Tanishq is a result of an exclusive blend of exquisite designs, highly focused communication strategy and innovative retail strategy, he said.Following more than 40 per cent growth in operations last year, Tanishq will invest extensively during 2008 in marketing and retail initiatives to further develop the market. It will build new logistics centres and upgrade existing ones.
