Nandita Sinha to steer Swiggy Instamart at crtical moment for q-comm industry
Meanwhile, Nandita Sinha will be the new chief executive officer at Instamart from August 3 and Majety said Nandita is one of India's most accomplished consumer internet leaders.
Leadership changes at Instamart come as India's quick commerce sector enters an intense new phase of competition, with companies racing to expand dark-store networks, improve delivery speeds and widen product offerings. Deep-pocketed rivals are investing heavily to capture a larger share of the country's fast-growing online grocery and everyday essentials market while giants such as Amazon and Flipkart have also launched their q-comm businesses.
How India's q-comm race is heating up
Amazon and Flipkart are ramping up investments in India's fast-growing quick commerce market, intensifying competition with established players Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart and Zepto. The two e-commerce giants are rapidly expanding their dark-store networks beyond metros into smaller cities, setting the stage for a fresh battle over market share through faster deliveries, aggressive pricing and deeper discounts.
India's quick commerce market has rapidly evolved from a convenience service into one of the country's most fiercely contested retail segments. What began with 10-minute grocery deliveries has changed how consumers shop, particularly in large cities, while attracting billions of dollars from investors betting on the sector's long-term growth.

Competition is becoming more intense as companies battle for the same customers rather than expanding into untapped areas. Instead of entering new neighbourhoods, operators are opening dark stores in overlapping locations to cut delivery times and gain market share. According to Bernstein, the country's five largest quick commerce players added nearly 900 dark stores between April and July, led by Blinkit, Flipkart Minutes and Amazon Now.
What Nandia Sinha brings to Swiggy Instamart
Nandita Sinha had quit Myntra in April this year after leading the fashion e-commerce platform since 2022. Her departure had marked another senior-level exit at Myntra and its parent, Flipkart, as the Walmart-owned company had lost its CFO Sriram Venkatraman while Abhishek Gupta had resigned as Myntra CFO to join Livspace.

In her previous role as Myntra CEO, Nandita Sinha led the fashion e-commerce platform to become India's largest player in the segment. Under her leadership, Myntra achieved EBITDA profitability in 2024 while continuing to gain market share in an intensely competitive market.
"I have long admired what the team at Instamart has built. It's a business with a strong customer-first culture, great talent, and significant opportunities ahead. Instamart sits at the heart of how India shops for its everyday needs, and I look forward to working with our colleagues, partners, and consumers to shape its next chapter of growth," Sinha said.
A consumer internet executive with more than two decades of experience, Sinha has held senior leadership roles at Flipkart, Britannia Industries and Hindustan Unilever, where she helped build and scale businesses across fashion, e-commerce and consumer goods, Swiggy noted.
At Instamart, she will oversee the platform's next phase of growth, with a focus on expanding its product assortment, strengthening execution, improving profitability and enhancing the customer experience.
Earlier today, beauty and fashion retailer Nykaa said it has appointed former Swiggy Instamart Chief Operating Officer Ankit Jain to lead Nykaa Now, its quick commerce business, as the company sharpens its focus on rapid deliveries amid intensifying competition in India's fast-growing quick commerce market.
