Snapdeal inks MoU with Cottage Emporium

Snapdeal said on Thursday it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government-backed Central Cottage Industries Corporation.

NEW DELHI: Online marketplace Snapdeal said on Thursday it has signed a memorandum of understanding ( MoU) with the government-backed Central Cottage Industries Corporation to provide a platform for online sales of handicrafts. The store, under a separate brand name, will be used to retail handicrafts from Central Cottage Industries.

Snapdeal VP, market development Vishal Chadha said in a statement: “Through our collaboration, we hope to enhance reach of indigenously manufactured products to newer geographies.”

Cottage Industries MD Pramod Nagpal said: “Direct market access through retail channels like Snapdeal’s digital commerce platform will help artisans and weavers get new audiences. This will provide us with the right tools to build competitive market engagement for our products.”
