RJ Corp signs licensing deal with Disney Consumer
RJ Corp has signed a licensing agreement with Disney Consumer Products, a unit of Walt Disney Company India, as reported by ET on Monday.
NEW DELHI: RJ Corp has signed a licensing agreement with Disney Consumer Products, a unit of Walt Disney Company India, as reported by ET on Monday.
As part of the deal, RJ Corp will be the exclusive master franchisee for the ‘Disney Artist’ brand in India and other South Asian markets.
Under the agreement, RJ Corp will be investing about Rs 80-100 crore in the next 3-5 years to set up a chain of 150 speciality stores across India. It will also source and market the arts and crafts merchandise in this category in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives.
Disney Artist brand has Disney characters branded greeting cards, stationary, arts and crafts and party products. Ravi Jaipuria, chairman, RJ Corp, said, “It’s one of the most unique retail tie-ups. We are excited about the project and are looking at a pan-India presence in the next couple of years.”
Rajat Jain, India CEO of the Walt Disney Company, said, “Globally, India is one of the most strategic markets for the company. At a later stage, we will be introducing various other brands from Walt Disney’s international portfolio as well.”
The retail chain again has various lines of business such as Disney Toys, Disney Softlines, Disney Hardlines, Disney Publishing, Buena Vista Games and Baby Einstein. At present, the Jaipurias are the leading bottlers for Pepsi in India.
The Ravi Jaipuria-promoted Rs 1,200-crore company Devyani International is also the India licensee for Britain’s Costa Coffee retail chain.
