Reliance Trends store plans a century in 3 years

Reliance Trends opened its first specialty store in Gurgaon. This is the first in the line of 100 stores that Reliance plans in next 3 years. Reliance recipe of creating wealth

GURGAON: Mukesh Ambani headed venture, Reliance Trends opened its first specialty store in Gurgaon on Thursday. This is the first in the line of 100 stores that Reliance plans to open in next 3 years. The company has earmarked an investment of Rs 25,000 crore for the Reliance retail venture.

"We have investments of around Rs.25,000 crore set aside for this venture. It's a new concept of value store including a sturdy merchandising system.", according to Arun Sirdeshmukh, Chief Executive, Apparels and Luggage Business.

The store covering a spread of about 30,000 square feet of shopping area is all set to house over 300 brands under a single roof. What can be compelling for consumers is the pricing strategy adopted by the company to lure fashion freaks at lowest prices.

Where retail has begun to capture the imagination of the nation, Reliance Trends, promises a mix of private brands well combing into national and international brands too. It's interesting to see consumers freaking over brands like Biba, Tacfab, Prafull that come handy at a discount of 30-50 per cent exclusively at the Reliance Trends store compared to its availability elsewhere.

"You will notice a lot of tie-ups and international partnerships across the variants of our store. Styles and ranges may also overlap with our Hypermarts at Ahmedabad", added Sirdeshmukh.

Belying fears on the staff crunch and floor management issues the company claims to have put the staff to a rigorous 2 weeks training. "We have a young and enthusiastic team of 150 people here at Reliance Trends, Gurgaon who have gone through a 2 weeks certified training to be digitally sound and offer professional merchandise customer service", said Akhilesh Prasad, Senior Vice President, Apparel Specialty Stores.

Reliance Retail having had much opposition from farmers, small and medium enterprises, on its new apparel retail venture is treading a careful path. On a much demanding note, the fashion and apparel management industry has been reshaping its face from an unorganized segment to an organized and branded image. Reliance Trends probably has taken a splash in the same pool to weave together the style statement, affordability, technology and pricing buff to keep aloof any opposition from the unorganized apparel and textile segment.
