Punjab Coop to set up retail chain
Around 3,500 Cooperative Societies in the state having about 47 lakh members will set up retail chain stores where cons Kanwaljit Singh told the media on Monday.
Singh did not agree with a suggestion that the CRC wouldex-serviceman, said.
The scheme is being introduced to help the societies get financial viability, generate employme, chase the goods in bulk.
The Cooperative Department would stress on the manufacturers to give them the wholesale volume discount, Singh said adding that the goods would be sold at cheap rates only to the members of the Societies.
Quality and prices of items to be sold through the Cooperative Retail Chain would be ensured, Singh said.
Asked about the capital investment in the setting up of the CRC, the minister said that the finances would be arranged from the Punjab State Cooperative Bank.
