Gautier looks for Indian partners to enter domestic retail mkt
Global furniture major Gautier on Monday said it is scouting for partners in India as it plans to foray into the burgeoning domestic retail industry and open first pilot store by the year-end.
"The burgeoning lifestyle aspirations of the new-age Indian consumers coupled with the retail industry boom sweeping through the country has prompted Gautier to seriously look at establishing its presence in the Indian market," Gautier Chairman & Managing Director M Dominique Soulard said in a statement.
Gautier plans to open its first retail outlet by the end of the year and would be launching a range of furniture solutions that would be tailored for Indian lifestyles, home spaces and usage habit.
The company said it was looking for a partnership and is currently holding talks with some leading retail companies in India to forge an alliance without disclosing the parties which were in talks with it.
The 160 million euros French conglomerate said it plans to set up large format (20,000 to 40,000 sq feet) retail outlets throughout India for exclusive retailing of its range furniture and home solutions, which would be imported from France.
It will introduce a comprehensive range of junior and nursery furniture solutions, besides thematic concepts of Gautier bedrooms, living rooms and storage units.
