Future Coupons, Biyani and family move Supreme Court to challenge Delhi HC order

Future Coupons, Kishore Biyani and his family have filed a petition in the Supreme Court against a March order by a Delhi High Court single judge, which had put Future Group’s deal to sell its retail assets Reliance Retail on hold, people familiar with the development said.

“A special leave petition was filed this (Thursday) evening,” said one of the people.

Spokespeople for the Future Group and Amazon, which had challenged the deal, did not respond to ET’s request for comment till press time Thursday.


In his March ruling, Justice JR Midha had said Future Retail, Future Coupons and group founder Biyani were in violation of an October interim order of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) that had restrained Future Retail from selling its assets to Reliance Retail till it decided on Amazon’s challenge. Justice Midha had also imposed a ₹20 lakh fine on Biyani and directed Future Group to approach the authorities to recall all approvals granted to the Future-Reliance Retail deal.
