KOLKATA: Emami Agrotech, a part of the Emami Group, has started retailing of bio-diesel from its plant at Haldia to make the product available for sale also in New Delhi, Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam.

The service was inaugurated today via video-conferencing by Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from New Delhi.

As per the government policy, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are required to supply five per cent of bio-diesel through pumps, blending it with 95 per cent of diesel.

Emami Agrotech, which is producing bio-diesel of BIS standard, would be supplying bio-diesel to the pumps in Haldia and New Delhi, the company said in a statement.

As per the distribution plans of the OMCs in the state, efforts are on to make blended bio-diesel fuel available in around 20 pumping stations across various locations of West Bengal.
