CAIT to hold conference against retail entry by corporates

As part of its ongoing movement against entry of corporate houses into the retail trade, the Confederation of All India Trades (CAIT) is organising an all party conference on September 19.

NEW DELHI: As part of its ongoing movement against entry of corporate houses into the retail trade, the Confederation of All India Trades (CAIT) is organising an all party conference on September 19.

The meeting is likely to see participation of BJP President Raj Nath Singh, NDA Convenor George Fernandes, JD (U) President Sharad Yadav, Akali Dal leader Sukhdev Singh among others, the organisation said in a statement.

"Opinion of political parties on such a major issue is all the more necessary and in light of deliberations at the conference, trade leaders from different states would meet to chalk out the future course of action," its general secretary Praveen Khandelwal said.

He alleged the entry into retail trade by corporate houses will render crores of people umemployed.
