Budget 2019: FDI in focus, major change may be brewing for single-brand retail

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed 100% FDI for insurance intermediaries in the Union Budget 2019 presented today.

She also announced that the government will examine opening up FDI in media, aviation, animation sectors.

Another big announcement was on local sourcing norms for single brand retail sector, which Sitharaman said will be eased.


She also revealed that the government was contemplating an annual global investors meet in India using the National Infra Investment Fund as the anchor.
