Bharti Wal-Mart retail to open 10 stores this year

The company aims at the same number next year also and is looking at expansion mostly in Southern and Western part of the country.

NEW DELHI: Bharti Wal-Mart, a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and Wal-Mart, announced the opening of 8 to 10 new wholesale cash and carry stores in 2011.

The company aims at the same number next year also and is looking at expansion mostly in Southern and Western part of the country. It opened its sixth store in Ludhiana recently. "We are targeting the middle-class in tier-II and tier-III cities," said Raj Jain, MD and chief executive, Bharti Wal-Mart here on Tuesday.

Bharti Wal-Mart and Bharti Retail have also announced the launch of MoneyGram International global money transfer service in their respective stores across India in association with Thomas Cook India, the principal agent of MoneyGram International.
