New Delhi: Amazon-a late entrant in India's thriving quick-commerce market-is accelerating its push on 10-minute delivery, adding two dark stores a day.
The ecommerce giant plans to have 300 such micro warehouses on its network across Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi-NCR by this year end, Amit Agarwal, Amazon's senior vice-president for emerging markets, said in a post on X. As of September, it had around 100 stores.
"The response to Amazon now has been extraordinary. Seeing urban India embrace a new level of convenience, getting what they need exactly when they need it, reinforces why we keep pushing the boundaries of what's possible in ecommerce," Agarwal wrote. This comes at a time when larger quick-commerce players Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart, with thousands of stores, are engaged in a battle for market share that has resulted in heavy cash burn for the industry.
