Amazon eyes deeper connect across cities, towns to expand India network ahead of festive season
Amazon has launched twelve new fulfillment centers and six sort centers in India. This expansion aims to enhance its operations network before the festive season. The new facilities are located across various cities, including Delhi NCR and Bengal...
The newly launched FCs are located in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Nagpur, Thane, Visakhapatnam, Hubballi, Hooghly, Hyderabad, Tiruvallur, and Krishnagiri. The company is targeting expansion in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities as it launched sort centres in Hubli, Trivandrum, Rajpura, Gorakhpur, Moradabad and Prayagraj.
All the announced facilities are ready and operational ahead of the upcoming festive season, the company said in a release.
This comes months after the e-commerce giant announced an investment of Rs 2,000 crore as part of its commitment to building and operating one of India’s fastest, safest, and most reliable operations network. The expansion announcement builds on Amazon's launch of five fulfillment centers and over 30 last-mile delivery stations in June.
"Our long-term focus remains on building and managing one of India’s leading logistics networks, focused on speed, safety, and reliability that reaches customers in every single pin-code across India," Abhinav Singh, VP Operations India & Australia at Amazon, said.
"As India gets ready for the festive season, we are readying ourselves to enable sellers to serve customers across the country. The 12 new fulfilment centers and 6 new sort centers will significantly boost our ability to provide customers across the country, the fastest, safest and more reliable deliveries," he added.
Recently, the company announced launch of five new FCs in Delhi NCR, Indore, Bhubaneshwar, Kochi and Rajpura as well as more than 30 new last-mile delivery stations in cities like Panchkula, Nagpur, Hubli, Mohali, Howrah, and Indore, among others.
