Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged CREDAI to integrate green spaces into every real estate project, emphasizing decentralized reforestation. He also called for increased labor skilling and transparent land banking, highlighting GST reforms' benef...
CREDAI has taken the reforestation initiative and is planting trees in large areas at the outskirts of cities.
“Whenever a developer design a unit, they should consider setting aside a green area. This initiative will further increase the forestation. If a developer ensure plantation of 100 trees in every project, it will be more beneficial than creating a forest at one place,” Shah said.
Shah also urged the developers body to increase the number of labourers it is skilling.
Shah said that the recent GST reforms has lead to saving of 5-7% in real estate projects.
“Only structure is not part of design, how the residents life can be improved by following green building norms, water recycling, rain water harvesting and scientific waste management should also be part of design,” said Shah.
The minister also said that land banking should be transparent.
Bhupender Yadav, Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India said that the time taken to get the environment clearance has been reduced drastically.
Boman R Irani, Chairman of CREDAI said that the real estate sector should get industry status.
“We have given representation to the government highlighting our demand related to GST and other issued which can help the real estate sector to grow,” said Shekhar G, Patel, President, CREDAI.
CREDAI is creating a forest in Gurgaon and also in talks with other state governments to create similar forest.
“Pollution is a big issue in metro cities and we believe by creating forests, we can fight the pollution. Additionally, CREDAI members are encourages to follow green buildings norms,” Patel said.
