Trade fair complex enters Limca Book of Records
The CODISSIA Trade Fair Centre in the city has entered the Limca Book of Records for being the first pillar-free trade fair complex in the world.
The complex, considered to be the biggest in the South and the second to Pragati Maidan in Delhi, is located in a sprawling 40-acre area and with the largest pillar-free hall and a constructed area of 13,500 square meters.
The certificate of Limca Award was handed over to CODISSIA (Coimbatore District Small Industries Association) last evening.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 12 crore, including land cost, the foundation stone for the complex was laid on June 10, 1999 and completed on December 25, 1999.
"The CODISSIA Intec Technology Centre at Coimbatore is the first pillar-free trade fair complex spread over 40 acres, constructed over 13,500 square meters in 155 days, with 1,500 workers working round the clock," the Limca citation reads.
