Sandvik Asia invests Rs 10 cr for expanding Centre

Sandvik Asia, a wholly-owned unit of Swedish Sandvik Group, on Monday announced successful completion of the expansion of its design and development centre here with a total investment of Rs 10 crore.

PUNE: Sandvik Asia, a wholly-owned unit of Swedish Sandvik Group, on Monday announced successful completion of the expansion of its design and development centre here with a total investment of Rs 10 crore.
Sandvik Asia, with the expansion, is now an independent engineering, procurement and construction company in materials handling.
"The expansion is in line with our strategy to strengthen our Asian platform while riding the rapid growth in the country," Hakan Kingstedt, Managing Director and President, Sandvik Asia, said.
Shib Bhowmik, Vice-President, Sandvik Mining and Construction and Incharge, Project Business and Design Centre, said: "The expanded centre, with 130 people, is geared to design various machines and projects handling coal and iron ore in significantly large quantities."
The centre will cater to increased engineering demand from group companies in Europe and other parts of the world, a company release said.
The expanded facility is fully equipped to undertake diverse activities including concept design, basic design, detail engineering, structural calculations and design, 3-D modelling and electrical engineering, it added.
