NEW DELHI: Reliance Energy (REL), Punj Lloyd, Gammon India and Shapoorji Pallonji, are amongst the qualified bidders for the Rs 480-crore Bhopal-Dewas road project in Madhya Pradesh.
The four-lane project of the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) will be developed on build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis. Bids by the shortlisted candidates will be submitted to MPRDC by the middle of January 2007, and final contract would be awarded on January 25, MPRDC deputy general manager Neeraj Vijay said.
“The project will be developed through BOT. Though we have approached the Centre for viability gap funding, it is possible that bidders would be so aggressive that there would not be any requirement of the VGF. We are expecting the concession to raise the full amount of funds,” he said.
Reliance Energy, Gammon India, Shapoorji Pallonji, Punj Lloyd, IL&FS, Unitech, IVRCL, Patel Engineering, Zoom Developers, Soma Enterprise, Lanco and DS Construction are some of the shortlisted bidders for the project.
“The four-laning of the Bhopal-Dewas state highway, once completed, will ease the heavy traffic congestion on the route. It will also reduce travel time between Bhopal and Indore from around five hours to just three hours,” he said. The Indore-Dewas stretch is already four-laned. Dewas lies mid-way between Indore and Bhopal.
The proposed stretches include Lebad-Nayagaon at a cost of Rs 828 crore, Sehore-Dewas at a cost of Rs 597 crore and Matkuli-Tamia-Chindwada at an estimated cost of Rs 95 crore.
