Now, Roman Tarmat eyes Middle-East for biz
Construction firm Roman Tarmat Ltd is exploring business opportunities in the Middle-East and other countries in infrastructure development.
"We are now planning to spread our operations to other countries, including the Middle-East, where investments in infrastructure are taking place on a large scale," company's Managing Director Jerry Varghese told reporters at a press conference here today.
"As build, operate and transfer (BOT) contracts are gaining importance in India, and with the Government encouraging private sector participation in the development of large-scale infrastructure projects, the company intends to bid for several projects on a BOT/BOOT basis," Varghese said.
The company is eyeing road construction projects in special economic zones (SEZ) and container freight stations (CFS) in which it has the required expertise. It has, in the past, constructed roads, pavements and container yards at the Nhava Sheva Port in Navi Mumbai.
"Over the years, we have developed expertise in building runways that adhere to strict quality standards and we have built runways at Mumbai and New Delhi airports as well as military airports," K N Satyanarayan, Senior General Manager of the company said.
