NGT restrains new building nods around Borivali national park
The order is expected to affect most part of northern suburbs, including Malad, Goregaon, Mulund, Bhandup and even areas of Thane district.
"By way of abundant precaution as an ad interim relief, we direct that no further construction permission shall be granted to any new project in area until the proposal forwarded by the state of Maharashtra is duly notified by MoEFNBWL with respect to the distance from the protected areaNational Park, atleast to keep the status quo," the tribunal said in an interim order passed last week.
The order is expected to affect most part of northern suburbs, including Malad, Goregaon, Kandivali, Borivali, Dahisar, Powai, Mulund, Bhandup and even areas of Thane district.
The park is spread over 25,400 acres of protected forest area wedged between northern suburbs of Mumbai and Thane. The order, therefore, will be applicable to civic authorities of Mumbai and Thane.
