Mumbai region’s Slum Rehab Authority allows pre-monsoon work at project sites

The Chief Executive Officer of SRA has allowed completion of pre-monsoon work by strictly following the guidelines for containment of Covid-19.

MUMBAI: The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) has allowed realty developers involved in such projects to carry out pre-monsoon work at their respective sites. The Chief Executive Officer of SRA has allowed completion of pre-monsoon work by strictly following the guidelines for containment of Covid-19.

In a circular issued earlier today, the authority has allowed work on incomplete foundation and basement works that may cause danger to the adjoining building or cause flooding for slum rehabilitation sites.

The permission for these activities will be granted by concerned Executive Engineer (SRA), while the application for the same need to be made by the developer through architect or license surveyor. All the correspondence with regards to this will be carried out online through emails, the circular said.


The authority was established two-and-a-half decades ago with a mandate to protect slum dwellers' rights and promote redevelopment of slum areas in Mumbai. Subsequently, area of the Thane Municipal Corporation was also added in the jurisdiction of SRA
