MahaRERA penalises Runwals

The developer claimed that the approval to start construction work was not received although both buildings had secured Intimation of Disapproval from the authorities.

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has imposed a token penalty of Rs. 10 lakh on Runwal Group for non-disclosure of approval information related to two towers in its residential project in Mumbai’s Mulund suburb.

The developer registered five towers under the project Runwal Infinity, of which three were registered as sanctioned buildings and two as proposed despite receiving approvals for all five towers, the complainant home buyers’ association said.

The developer claimed that the approval to start construction work was not received although both buildings had secured Intimation of Disapproval from the authorities. The authority accepted the developer’s contention that the aforesaid violation happened unintentionally and therefore imposed only a token penalty.
