The 3.2-acre bungalow will be the second such acquisition by the businessman who has also entered into an agreement to buy the first official residence of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru at Motilal Nehru Road in Lutyens' Bungalow Zone (LBZ) for more than ₹1,100 crore, the people said. They didn't name the buyer.
A leading law firm has issued a public notice on behalf of the businessman as the final step in the process of due diligence.
"Our Client is desirous of acquiring a residential property situated at Plot No. 5, Block no. 159 (presently known as 5, Bhagwan Dass Road), admeasuring 3.2 acres (approximately 12,949.94 Sq. meter) and for the same, we are enquiring the title of current owner of the said property, Manujendra Shah. Any person claiming any right or title with respect to the said property may inform us in writing with particulars of claim along with documentary proof," the law firm said in the notice.
Manujendra Shah couldn't be contacted for comment. "The buyer family already lives in Lutyens Delhi and is in the final stages of buying two large bungalows in the same locality," said a person aware of the deal. "Both are trophy assets but due to the pricing, only a few billionaires can buy it."
