The centre was inaugurated by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari in the presence of S. N. Subrahmanyan, chairman and managing director of Larsen & Toubro, and senior executives from L&T and LTM.
The Kolkata facility will support LTM’s global delivery operations and AI initiatives, while creating opportunities for technology professionals in West Bengal and neighbouring states.
LTM said Kolkata’s educational institutions, talent pool and digital infrastructure were key factors behind its decision to expand operations in the city. The centre will focus on collaboration, technology development and delivery for the company’s global clients.
“West Bengal is emerging as a preferred destination for technology and AI-driven investments. LTM’s decision to establish and expand its presence in Kolkata reinforces the state’s strengths in talent, innovation and digital infrastructure,” Adhikari said.
Subrahmanyan said the centre reflects the L&T Group’s continued investment in India’s technology ecosystem and regional development.
“By expanding into high-potential regions and creating opportunities for local communities, we are helping build a stronger foundation for innovation, technology-led progress and inclusive economic development,” he said.
Venu Lambu, CEO and managing director, LTM, said Kolkata’s talent base and academic ecosystem make it a strategic location for the company.
“As AI reshapes industries, our Global Delivery & AI Competency Center in Kolkata will help us harness local talent, build future-ready skills and deliver next-generation solutions for global clients while contributing to West Bengal’s technology-led growth,” he said.
The Kolkata centre is part of LTM’s wider strategy to expand its delivery network across India and locate technology and AI capabilities closer to talent pools. The company said it will continue to invest in regional centres, digital infrastructure and employee-focused workplaces.
